Research has shown that when we are deprived of certain light frequencies we can become sick. One of the most fascinating scientific facts to emerge recently is that sound behaves in a similar fashion to light. In other words, sound and light act like vitamins and minerals in our body. Most people are deficient in certain tones and this is traced when the human voice is recorded and monitored. We need a certain balance of sound frequencies, which may vary from one individual to another, in order to maintain our bodies in a healthy state. Recent experiments indicate that one of the most powerful ways to heal the individual is to play back the missing frequencies at a low octave which corresponds to brain wave frequencies. What happens here is quite remarkable and really beautiful. The body is simply helped to heal itself by activating the control centre in the brain that looks after this healing.
You already know that music can be an immense source of enjoyment and entertainment. But did you also know that it can be a powerful form of prayer, meditation, and healing ? Actually, musical therapy has been an ancient tradition since the dawn of humanity, spiritual healers known as shamans have used drums, bells, and rattles to drive disease from the body, depression from the mind, and despair from the soul.
For thousands of years, cultures throughout the world have used the power of music to heal the body, mind, and spirit. Edgar Cayce, the "Sleeping Prophet" claimed that sound would be the medicine of the future. In recent years, research into vibroacoustics has provided numerous verifiable scientific discoveries of the drug free possibilities of sound as a powerful therapeutic tool. Acoustic energy vibrated throughout the body can have a wide range of applications, from simple relaxation, elevating states of consciousness to expansion of creativity and relief of chronic pain.
Our body is comprised of an "energetic system" as well as a "physical system". The "energetic system" has also been referred to as chi, subtle energy, vital energy, and prana. All these energies are the basic foundation of existence. Although this idea is relatively new to most Westerners, for thousands of years Oriental medicine has shown that when the body's vortices of energy are in perfect balance, the result is a stronger life force resulting in improved physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well being. When our energies are blocked, weak, or out-of-balance, we may find potential conditions of disease.
Energetic patterns of sound, colour, light, toning and music have the capability to "tune-up" and balance the energy system, making it more efficient. Pain can be eased, stress reduced and depression lifted. Personalities liven up and become more vibrant. The mind becomes clearer, creativity is increased, resulting in a wider perspective and an improved ability to make major decisions. The emotions become more stable. The spirit is more peaceful. Greater joy and improved well being are found in the process.
Hans Jenny Performed extensive research into the field of Cymatics. Cymatics is the study of waves and wave phenomena. Through Cymatics research light has been shed on the historical significance into the beliefs of early philosophers such as Pythagoras and Plato. Much of their philosophy was based upon mathematical order and the relationship of sounds, musical tones and words.
Another of the early pioneers of Cymatics is physician Peter Guy Manners of the U. K. Over two decades ago, he found that every normal organ or tissue in the body has a healthy resonant frequency. When it alters, this is what is called disease. He reasoned that if he could determine the correct resonant frequency and project that sound into the diseased area, the organ or tissue would return to its normal frequency. In his early research, he would simply record the normal frequency of a healthy knee, for example, and project it into an arthritic knee to bring it back to normalcy. Over the years he has discovered and developed a hand-held computerized "Cymatic Applicator" that can deliver a frequency pattern associated with a healthy state to any part of the body to restore health. In a recent visit to the U. S., he demonstrated how his Cymatic Applicator sends sound through the body and out the other side. If he perceives a delay (seconds or minutes) or if he feels heat, he knows the sound coming from his applicator has hit an area of resistance and is in the process of activating and balancing the area. The process has no side effects and his patients are comfortable throughout the process.
Although the connection between physical, mental, emotional and spiritual is barely understood, Dr. Manners is an example of one individual who has applied and proven over a period of many years how incredibly powerful sound can be when used as a tool for healing. |
